If you loved the gender-neutral safari themed baby shower we shared last week, you’re going to love this one. The designer, TyRon Wells of Wells Designs Co. was the designer for the baby shower, and he has us wishing we were there to celebrate with the MunaMommy, Aqila. It’s loaded with boy baby shower ideas.
For starters, you’d think there would be all types of shades of blue since it was a baby shower for a boy. Rather, Wells and his team designed a green, brown, gold, and beige wonderland complete with luxe balloon installations, floral arrangements, and even a Champagne welcome wall.
Themed “Prince Cannon’s Grand Entrance” expectant mom Aqila wanted to celebrate her baby on the way in grand style with a garden feel. Due to hot temperatures in Memphis, TN, Tyron, and his team brought the beautiful gardens of Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis, TN indoors. With its blank slate and floor to ceiling windows, he was able to create something magical for Aqila. Some of the highlights included a floral cake cart, bottomless mimosas, and a custom cake with a crown on top.
He’s like a Prince to me and I want the royal experience, but not the typical baby shower.

“The Queen herself, Aquila Augusta of Edge Entity, who has been featured by Essence Magazine, has built quite an empire and wanted to give her heir Prince Cannon’s soon-to-be arrival a GRAND ENTRANCE! It was a gorgeous summer day with plenty of light to fill the window-filled room. Guests were greeted with a greenery Champagne wall filled with flutes with various fruit garnishing inside. They entered into the room to the spins of popular Memphis DJ, DJ Swagg. Tons of different delectable delights for guests were prepared by Chef Phillip Dewayne and laid out to eat with the beautiful gardens as their background. Lush florals filled every table. There were various designs for the tables some featuring teddy bears, children’s books, and both stacked and suspended building blocks.
The absolute highlight of the entire space was the stunning cake area! The cake by MyMoniCakes was beautifully designed with a crown on top, suitable for a prince. We designed the area with tons of florals with the highlight being a floral roof built onto a cart with an explosion of balloons adorning the entire area and extending to a wrapped circular wall with the words “OH BOY, It’s A Celebration!” This particular area served as a backdrop for the Queen’s seating area, designed with her in mind. All in all, the day was quite a celebration to behold! All [aspects] of this stunning event were just as they should be and all at Wells Design Co. were thrilled to provide another custom Wells Experience.”

Around 8 months
Was this your first time working with her? If not, when else did you work with her?
It was our first time with Aqila as the client, BUT she appeared in her mother’s wedding as a Bridesmaid months earlier where my team implemented the Event + Floral Design.
What fun games were played during the baby shower?
It wasn’t the typical “Baby Shower”! Aqila’s focus was just to make sure that everyone had an amazing time celebrating Prince Cannon! She spared no expense on an amazing DJ, had amazing food spread done by Chef Dewayne, and a bottomless mimosa bar for guests to enjoy! It was more of an experience/celebration – the party even extended an hour past the event’s end time.
How did you come up with the theme?
It really was just an inspiration of Aqila’s love of nature and wanting to involve that in her design which goes back to even the beautiful Maternity Shoot with a picturesque natural background! I was very inspired by the venue being completely surrounded by the Dixon Gardens. I wanted to bring those elements into the room so that floor to ceiling windows just extended the space. That’s why there were lush centerpieces and different floral accents throughout the room including the massive Cake Cart with a floral roof and floral beds accenting the cake and sweets.
